Resurrected!

Written by:

A common phrase when we celebrate the resurrection:”Christ is risen!” One answers, “He is risen, indeed!”

Yeshua HaMashiach IS the Resurrection and the Life and the True Light of the world! How many people were witnesses to the risen Christ? Over 500!

1COR 15:3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve*. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.

* The Twelve: it was common at this time to say the “the Twelve” while at this time there were technically eleven apostles as Judas Iscariot hung himself out of shame. Yet, “the Twelve” was a number to indicate government.

Over 500 people were telling of the risen Christ! And I believe many of these witnesses would have seen the where nails had been driven. Imagine just seeing the risen Christ in person! Holy Yeshua!

LUKE 24:38 And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have. 40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate before them.

Yeshua was eating! But this new spiritual body was new and improved:

It wasn’t confined by walls.

JOHN 20:19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

JOHN 20:26 Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”

Ability to NOT be recognized (shape-shifting?):

LUKE 24:15 While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.

JOHN 20:15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher).

How could this Mary not recognize her beloved rabbi?! She only sat at Yeshua’s feet to learn His Way.

THE FIRSTFRUITS

Scripture confirms that Christ is the firstfruits and He was raised on the Feast of Firstfruits!

1COR 15:20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

If there is a firstfruit, there must be one after: those who believe and trust in Him.

1COR 15:23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.

THE RESURRECTION OF THE JUST

True believers, those who are born-again, are to be resurrected! Yeshua declared there would be a resurrection for believers at His Second Coming and that is our blessed hope!

LUKE 14:14b “… you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

Yeshua referred to this astonishing phenomenon, not as “the rapture”, but “the resurrection of the just.” And this also is the promise of God:

1JOHN 3:2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.

1COR 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

We, true Christians, will be like Christ in divine character and also have spiritual bodies, suitable for an eternity with God. We will rule and reign with Christ, who is the King of Kings. Some of those kings are us!

DAN 7:27 And the kingdom and the dominion
and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven
shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High;
his kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom,

Are you learning how to think and act like Christ? Through His Word? This earth is a school. We are being taught on this earth to be ready for the Kingdom of God. What we do here on earth should be preparing us for eternal life with Christ, ruling by His side! Where we will be in this heavenly line-up is up to us!

MATT 13:23 “As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”

Let us try for the hundredfold!

OUR RESURRECTED BODIES

1COR 15:35 But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? [By a miracle!] With what kind of body do they come?” 36 … What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. 37 And what you sow is not the body that is to be

42 So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. 43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam [Yeshua] became a life-giving spirit. 46 But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual. 47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.

Wow! This will be totally amazing! We will be imperishable! We will be in glory! We will have some kind of power, like the angels, always subject to the approval of God.

LUKE 20:34 And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, 35 but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, 36 for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

We will be the sons of God. We will be like Christ, not in absolute authority, but under Him, as His kings.

ROM 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits* of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

* This “firstfruits” is referring to the Holy Spirit within each true believer as a guarantee of the future.

The dead, carnal body of a believer dies. THEN the born-again spirit has a new heavenly, spiritual body at the “the resurrection of the just”!!!

50 I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:

“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
55 “O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”

56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen! And HalleluYAH! What we have to look forward to!

ROM 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
