My Salvation

Scriptures from the Book of John declaring salvation through Jesus Christ.

Yeshuah or Yeshua means “salvation”! (H3444 in ISAIAH 49:6)

When one believes that Jesus Christ (Yeshua) is one’s salvation from the darkness of hell, one becomes a child of God and receives eternal life! How exciting to be delivered from the power of darkness and conveyed into the kingdom of the Son of His love! (COL 1:13)

CHILDREN OF GOD

JOHN 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

If one believes in Jesus Christ and receives Jesus Christ, he is born of God. This is also referred to as “born again” and “born of the Spirit”.

JOHN 3:5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Being “born of water” is the natural birth as “water breaks” in a pregnant woman. Why would Yeshua say “flesh is flesh” if He were not speaking of the natural birth? Yeshuah is making a comparison between “born of water”/”flesh is flesh” AND “born of the spirit”/”Spirit is spirit”. Being “born again” is a spiritual birth of believing in the Messiah’s death & resurrection.

JOHN 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

JOHN 4:13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.

This is speaking of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit of Christ, who dwells in all Christians, grants to us eternal life, as now we are children of God who live forever.

JOHN 4:23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

FOOD FOR SPIRITUAL SUSTENANCE

Yeshua is the Word of God. One should daily “eat” of His Word bringing us His spiritual nourishment.

JOHN 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

JOHN 6:35 And Jesus said to them, “I AM the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

JOHN 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

JOHN 6:47 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. 48 I AM the bread of life.

JOHN 6:53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

OT Scriptures use this metaphor commonly. We spiritually “eat” the Word of God!

EZE 3:1 Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.”

Did Ezekiel really eat the scroll or was this figurative? Yeshua spoke often in metaphors and figurative language using things that people could understand readily, such as when He said “I AM the door”.

JOHN 16:25 “These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.

Some people think that this means the act of taking communion. But when this speech (John 6) was given, Yeshua’s last Passover supper hadn’t even taken place. Moreover, communion means fellowship! One may fellowship on His Word and enjoy the fellowship of speaking of the Word with other brethren. However, we could actually take “communion”, preferably of matzo. Matzo is the bread that Yeshua used, being unleavened which represents His sinless life.

1COR 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.

WATER FOR THE SOUL

JOHN 7:37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

The indwelling Holy Spirit, by whom Christians are sealed for the day of redemption, is a supreme gift, a gift from God.

OTHER METAPHORS on SALVATION

JOHN 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I AM the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

JOHN 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

We are not free when we are bound by sin!

JOHN 10:11 “I AM the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.

Yeshua the Messiah died for us for our sins as was prophesied in the OT and then after three days, He rose from the dead!

THE SAVIOR IS GOD

JOHN 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I AM the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

JOHN 12:44 Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. 45 And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.

JOHN 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

JOHN 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

We have peace in Christ, a peace “which surpasses all understanding”. Yeshua is an overcomer and He wants us to be overcomers as well, to overcome the temptations of this world of sin.

JOHN 17:1 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, 2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Yeshua proclaimed, “I and My Father are one.” (JOHN 10:30) Yeshua is God. God sent His Son; He sent His Arm into the world (ISA 53:1). See here the triune nature of God yet God is one!

JOHN 17:8 For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me. 9 “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. 10 And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them.

JOHN 17:17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

BELIEVING

How many “believing” words, noted in red, are in these Scriptures from the Book of John? It is obvious that believing or trusting in Yeshua the Messiah is how one receives eternal life! We believe His Word to us!

EPH 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.

Scriptures are from the NKJV with added capitalization of “I AM” as this is from “I AM who I AM”, God’s name in:

EXODUS 3:14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”
