JOEL 3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
GATHERING TOGETHER
MATT 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn….
Firstly, when is the harvest? It is at the end of the age. Read REV 14:14-20. (Har-Magedon and Resurrection of believers; 4th Vision of Revelation)
TARES GATHERED
Where are the tares to be gathered?
MATT 24:28 (NASB) Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.
This above Scripture was given by Yeshua about the end-times. This is a reference to the Har-Magedon (Armageddon) battle. The LORD will return soon after these rebellious armies gather together in Israel. They will be gathered there before this battle, the battle of Har-Magedon. The name “Har-Magedon” means “A heap of sheaves in a valley for judgment” according to the Hebrew language.
REV 16:16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.
REV 19:19 And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.
SAME BATTLE?
Is it possible that the Gog-Magog war is the Battle of Har-Magedon? Re-think. One doesn’t need to come to a conclusion, just to re-think about this possibility.
EZE 39:11 “It will come to pass in that day that I will give Gog a burial place there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east of the sea; and it will obstruct travelers, because there they will bury Gog and all his multitude. Therefore they will call it the Valley of Hamon Gog.
The Valley of Hamon-gog, maybe east of the Jordan River, is where the army of Gog will be slain and buried (Ezek 39:11,15). Hamon-gog means “the multitude of Gog”. Often, this is considered a symbolic location rather than a specific geographical place.
Consider these two Scriptures: the Ezekiel one usually connected with Gog-Magog war; the Revelation one usually connected to Har-Magedon:
EZE 39:17 “And as for you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD, ‘Speak to every sort of bird and to every beast of the field: “Assemble yourselves and come; Gather together from all sides to My sacrificial meal Which I am sacrificing for you, A great sacrificial meal on the mountains of Israel, That you may eat flesh and drink blood.
REV 19:17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, … 21 … And all the birds were filled with their flesh.
These Scriptures refer to a feast for the birds and vultures!
YESHUA’S TWO DIFFERENT QUOTES
The LORD speaks to many Christians in riddles and parables, so that we need to draw close to Him and study His Word. That’s what I’ve been doing!
PRO 1:5 A wise man will hear and increase learning,
And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,
6 To understand a proverb and an enigma,
The words of the wise and their riddles.
The following passages are somewhat of a riddle. Does it not sound mystical?
LUKE 17:37b (NKJV) “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.”
MATT 24:28b (ESV): “Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.”
It seems, on the surface, as if this is the same quote. Yet it is not. These are definitely two different quotes at two different times! It was not the same event just retold.
Before The Triumphal Entry (in LUKE 19)
LUKE 17:(NKJV) 22 Then He said to the disciples, … 30 Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed … 34 I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. 35 Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. 36 Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.” 37 And they answered and said to Him, “Where, Lord?” So He said to them, “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.”
Notice that the Lord was referring to a body in the Luke verse, not a corpse! This is about the resurrection of the church. The “body” is Christ’s body, and the eagles are gathered together for “the resurrection of the just” in heaven!
“Body” = G4983 sṓma – the physical body. 4983 (sṓma) is also used figuratively of the mystical Body of Christ.
“Taken” = G3880 paralambanó: To take, to receive, to take along, to accept
“Left” = G863 aphiémi: To send away, to leave, to permit, to abandon
This is the LORD taking His Church to heaven to be forever with Him while the wrath of God is devastating the earth. The unbelievers are left behind!
After the Triumphal Entry (in MATT 21)
Now, let’s see about this riddle in Matthew. The following sermon of Yeshua took place after the triumphal entry into Jerusalem. This is where the LORD prophesies about the end-time scenario.
MATT 24:3 (NKJV) Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered and said to them …
MATT 24:28 (ESV) “Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.”
The same Greek word is used for either “eagles” or “vultures”. Some passages, including the NKJV, use the word “eagle”. However, eagles rely mostly on live prey, except when it is scarce, so I chose this ESV verse.
Also, “corpse” is suitable for apart from Christ, these unbelievers are spiritually “dead”, as it means to be separate from God. They are spiritually dead, but they soon will be physically dead after this battle.
“Corpse” = G4430 ptóma: Corpse, dead body, carcass.
This gathering of vultures should begin before the final Feast of Trumpets and before the final Battle of Har-Magedon. This meets the Scriptural requirements in MATT 13:30b: “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn….
The unbelievers (tares) will gather together to go to the Battle of Har-Magedon and then the Church (wheat) will be gathered and will ascend to heaven during this “resurrection of the just”!
MATT 24:31 And [better: Indeed] He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
2THES 2:1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
CONCLUSION
The multitude of unbelievers will gather together in expectation of the dreadful Battle of Har-Magedon. To assemble this many troops might take sometime.
However, the true Church, the righteous by the grace of God, will be gathered together and will ascend to heaven to be forever with the LORD! Glory be and HalleluYAH!
