The Omega Quake

Written by:

The BIG ONE!

*** When the Messiah sacrificed His life on the cross, a mega quake took place in Jerusalem.

MATT 27:51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,

Earthquakes symbolize judgment, a climactic shaking of the world. When Yeshua died it was earth-shaking – and literally earth-shaking.

JOEL 2:10 The earth quakes before them, The heavens tremble; The sun and moon grow dark, And the stars diminish their brightness.

There will be another mega quake when the LORD returns!

ZECH 14:3 Then the Lord will go forth
And fight against those nations,
As He fights in the day of battle.
4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two …

A SHORT EXPLANATION

The Seals are an overview of Church history and beyond so that’s why they end with the cosmic disturbances in the 6th Seal. We are currently in the 5th Seal, before the Sign of His Coming (see below MATT 24).

THE OMEGA QUAKE

In the book of Revelation, St. John wrote about this “great earthquake” from different perspectives. All of these mentions are the very same earthquake! This is the very big, big, big one! Notice the classic “Day of the Lord” language that is used: a great earthquake; sun becomes black; moon like blood; stars falling; sky rolled up; and hail.

“Great” in the Greek is “megas“. So I’m calling this concluding shaking of the earth, the Omega Quake as it is the very last one!! “Omega” is the last letter of the Greek alphabet!

The word “earthquake” [Greek σεισμός – seismos, meaning a shaking or commotion] appears 7 times in the book of the Book of Revelation. Another seven!

FIRST MENTION in Revelation

REV 6:12 I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood.

Notice that this passage includes the cosmic disturbances.

REV 6:17 “The great day of their wrath has come.”

These verses are towards the end of the Second Vision. These verses parallel those in Matthew regarding the Sign of His Coming.

MATT 24:29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And [Better, Indeed] He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

True Christians are no longer here for we are not appointed to the Wrath of God but have been resurrected (above Matt 24:29; 31).

SECOND MENTION

This is at the Seventh Seal (“7” meaning “completeness”) and it introduces the Seven Trumpets, entering the wrath of God.

REV 8:5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.

This occurs in the Fourth Vision.

THIRD & FOURTH MENTION

This is called by scholars an “episode” which goes back to add more detail. It is therefore, not in chronological order.

REV 11:11 Now after the three-and-a-half days the breath of life from God entered them [the two witnesses], and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. 12 And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them. 13 In the same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand people were killed, and the rest were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven.

In the Fourth Vision, the great earthquake causes a tenth of the city of Jerusalem to fall and 700 people are killed. Some people, more than likely amongst them Jews, fear God. This is followed by the Seventh Trumpet, when the Kingdom is proclaimed:

“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord.” (REV 11:15)

This fact makes this passage at the end of the age even though it is halfway through this book!

FIFTH MENTION – possibly the same “episode” as 3&4.

REV 11:19 Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.

The Ark symbolizes God’s presence.

SIXTH & SEVENTH MENTION

In the Fifth Vision, in the includes thunderings, lightnings, and hail. It is in the Seventh Bowl when the earth is utterly shaken!

REV 16:18 And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. 19 Now the great city [Jerusalem] was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell.

These passages take us beyond Jerusalem to other parts of the world: Babylon (Rome); every island and mountains. The final disintegration of the world system is described here!

OLD TESTAMENT PASSAGES

It also seems that this is the same great earthquake in this passage from the Prophet Ezekiel, though this is sometimes looked upon as a separate event.

EZE 38:18 “And it will come to pass at the same time, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” says the Lord God, “that My fury will show in My face. 19 For in My jealousy and in the fire of My wrath I have spoken: ‘Surely in that day there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel, 20 so that the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all men who are on the face of the earth shall shake at My presence. The mountains shall be thrown down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.’ 21 I will call for a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains,” says the Lord God. “Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22 And I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 23 Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.”

This seems likely because of these events: 1) The Israelis will be burying Gog and his multitude for seven (EZEK 39:11-16) during the Millennium. 2) The bird feast of Revelation is mentioned. (EZEK 39:17-20, REV 19:17-18) 3) The Israelites are restored to faith. (EZEK 39:29)

CONCLUSION

It seems likely that this Omega Quake is describing the same Day of the Lord event in different visions.

See this “OMEGA” Quake Chart for Scriptures and details.

The first mention in Revelation is in the Sixth Seal which leads to the Trumpets which is the Wrath of God. True Christians are no longer here for we are not appointed to the Wrath of God, but have been resurrected.

These mentions in Revelation, except for the first which is leading to the Seventh, are in some kind of “Seventh” – be it Seals, Trumpets, or Bowls.

Therefore, this lends itself to the Seven Visions of St. John as being accurate.

“The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!”

(from REV 11:15)
