Yeshua the Messiah, in His Last Supper on earth, was at a Passover seder. The Passover was instituted by the LORD as a celebration of the Israelites being delivered from Egyptian slavery. Today, when we celebrate communion with our Deliverer, we are thankful that He has saved us from the slavery of sin.
ROM 6:17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
CELEBRATION OF COMMUNION
We have cause to celebrate! Christ has set us free! HalleluYAH! We, who are born-again of the Spirit, have been saved through the Messiah! Yet, He paid the price! Yeshua, the sinless one, paid a debt that He did not owe, on the cruel cross of Calvary. He gave His physical life so that we could have eternal life.
Thusly, He asked us to remember His great sacrifice.
LUKE 22:19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
This was a “once-and-for all” sacrifice.
HEB 10:13 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
We call it “communion” when we participate with bread and wine at churches, but one can have communion at home!
One time, I was at a prayer meeting where we had communion, and the LORD told me to take the bread and wine to my father who was in the hospital. As he was raised Catholic, I thought he wouldn’t accept this gesture. I told this to the LORD but the He still instructed me to do this for him. Subsequently, my father did receive communion. Then, we had an insightful discussion about spiritual matters. I am confident that we will meet again in heaven.
FELLOWSHIP
KOINÓNIA in the Greek = “communion” or “fellowship”!
It is easy to forget His sacrifice on the cross with all the business of our everyday lives. But the Messiah wants us to take time to be thankful, to be with Him, in communion or fellowship.
Yeshua desires our company, for us to be with Him. Something supernatural happens within us through this fellowship with Christ. We are revitalized spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically! Through fellowship with Him, whether reading His Word OR prayer OR worshipping, OR through gazing with gratitude upon YAH’s beautiful creation, we may enter His Presence!
CELEBRATION OF THE PASSOVER
If you have the opportunity, please go to a celebration of Passover. Many churches or Messianic synagogues hold them. They correlate the original Passover with Christ’s sacrifice. It is a memorable experience!
These two links will give you information on this celebration: Passover & the Tower of the Flock and Our Passover Lamb.
An excellent sermon from Alistair Begg on this subject.

CELEBRATION OF BOTH
When we celebrate either communion, fellowship, or Passover, we may enter His lovely Presence!
… For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.
