The name “Isaiah” means “salvation of the LORD” and the book entitled by his name certainly speaks about the “salvation of the LORD”!
Passages from Isaiah 43
1 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel:“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.
Whenever we see in the Hebrew Scriptures “LORD”, in honor to His holy, sacred name, it is the name “YHVH” (H3068), . (This is seen sometimes as “YHWH”) When Jews refer to the LORD, they use “Adonai” meaning “My Lord”. In the Septuagint, the Greek Hebrew Bible, YHVH is translated “Kyrios” also meaning “Lord”.
Here, it is YHVH who is speaking. This YHVH is the Creator. And He is Israel’s Redeemer!
YHVH is the Creator & the Redeemer!
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.
YHVH is the One who saved the three Israelite men from the flames of the fire, but there was a fourth man in the furnace!
DAN 3:25 “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”
This is a theophany, a visible manifestation of the LORD.
DAN 3:24 “Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished ….”
This king acknowledged the LORD after this! (See Daniel 4)
Back to Isaiah 43 …
3a For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
Again, YHVH is the God and the Savior of Israel.
3b I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
The tenth plague fell upon the firstborn of Egypt who did not adhere to the LORD’s command to be covered by the blood of the lamb on the lintels of the door. This is an allusion to the Passover Lamb Yeshua . This Lamb’s blood covers our sin!
Called by God’s Name
7 Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.”
Israelites are called by various epithets relating to God, (but never YHWH)!
Yah is short for YHVH or “iah” in English
“Isaiah” = “salvation of the Lord.”
“Yirmeyahu”/“Jeremiah” = “the Lord exalts.”
“El” = God
“Ezekiel” = “strength of God.”
“Daniel” = “God is my judge”
Also, this is an allusion to later believers who would take on the name “Christians”!
YHVH created humankind for His glory.
ISA 9:6 For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be cal
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
The Child born to us is also the Counselor!
Yeshua speaks this: JOHN 16:7 (CSB) Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth. It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send Him to you.
The meek Child is also the Mighty God!
The Son given to us is also the Everlasting Father!
Also, the Son is the Prince of Peace! Those who do not hunger for His Kingdom of peace to come will then forever be banned from it.
YHVH, this Mighty God, is a mystery! Believers in the Messiah will be forever learning more about our wonderful King! Glory!
Witnesses
10a “You are My witnesses,” says the Lord,“And My servant whom I have chosen, That you may know and believe Me, And understand that I am He.
Praise God, I am His witness! I know Him and believe in Him. HalleluYAH!
10b Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me.
This is referring to the One Creator YHVH. Scripture says that there are those who call themselves gods. However, YHVH is the true God!
JER 10:10 But the LORD is the true God;
He is the living God and eternal King.
The earth quakes at His wrath,
and the nations cannot endure His indignation.
So for all those “heathen gods” who are in rebellion against the True LORD…
JER 10:11 Thus you [Jeremiah] shall say to them: “The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens.”

That is the fate of these evil spirits who make themselves into their own gods! So please don’t follow idols nor be your own god!
11 I, even I, am the LORD, And besides Me there is no savior.
YHVH repeats again that He is the Savior!
12 I have declared and saved, I have proclaimed, And there was no foreign god among you; Therefore you are My witnesses,”Says the Lord, “that I am God.
Israelites and Christians are His witnesses. The believing Israelites and true Christians are all the “ekklesia”, the church or assembly of saints! (The same word “ekklesia’ is used in the Greek Septuagint.)
GAL 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Collectively, Jews and Christians will be His witnessess in the very end time (REV 11). Individually, there will be two witnesses: Moses (Torah) and Elijah (Prophets). (See Matthew 17:4)
14a Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel…
Again, YHVH is Redeemer and the Holy One of Israel. Christians, too, are part of Israel!
ROM 9:8 That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed.
15 I am the Lord, your Holy One, The Creator of Israel, your King.”
Again, YHVH states the same thing: Holy One, Creator, King!
Pierced
And then, some verses later, YHVH says this:
25 “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.
Who blotted out the transgressions and sins but the LORD Yeshua who died as a Lamb at Passover?
ISA 53:5 (NASB) But He was pierced for our offenses, He was crushed for our wrongdoings; The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him, And by His wounds we are healed.
ZECH 12:10 “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.
This is YHVH speaking! And He says, it was Himself who was pierced! The Jews will come to be repentant and mourn for Christ, “his only son”! This event will happen when Christ returns! The Messiah will destroy “all the nations that come against Jerusalem”. (ZECH 12:9) Yeshua is the Savior, who will deliver Israel physically! But Yeshua is also the Savior who delivers us spiritually! He saves us from our sins!
Just as we are spirit, soul, and body, YHVH God, who made us in His image, is a triune God manifesting through the Father in Heaven, the Son on earth, and the Holy Spirit in the spirit realm.
Please meditate on this Scripture: “In Your Light, do we see Light …” Psalm 36:9 (See The Life & the Light)
REVEAL
YHVH continues these parallels to Yeshua in the next chapter of Isaiah. He calls himself “the First and the Last”.
ISA 44:6 “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts:‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God.
Yet the LORD Yeshua, years after He had resurrected, reveals Himself to St. John the Apostle as the “First and the Last”:
REV 1:12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, [see DAN 7:13] clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. 14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; 15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; 16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. 17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen.
Yeshua is the First and the Last, the Aleph-Tav, the Beginning and the End!
Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus the Messiah, is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Yeshua is the True God!
Yeshua is the King of Kings!
Yeshua is our Savior and Redeemer!
Yeshua is the Holy One of Israel Yeshua is our Creator!
And His name “Yeshua” means “Yahweh is salvation”!

All Scriptures are from the New King James Version unless noted.
