Houstonians, remember Tropical Storm Allison? That was in early June, 2001. 30,000 people became homeless.
Lakewood Church, in their old location, was supposed to have a conference, but their facilities were needed and it became a shelter for the many. That was true of this church and many. Christians showed mercy in this time of need. Houstonians were more than willing to aid in the recovery. They showed “agape” love to there brothers. Unbelievers became believers in the LORD Jesus Christ. Praise God! The LORD used a storm to reach people!
Now remember September 11, 2001, the SAME year. Many Americans remember where they were when they first heard of the plight of the Twin Towers.
In 1979 or so, I had a vision when I worked in the Galleria, staring out of my husband’s window. It was an open vision: the Transco Tower, the tallest building in the Galleria, was falling. (This was the name back then.) I was shocked. But I knew what I had seen in the spirit.
So in 2001, when I heard about the Twin Towers, I went and prayed around the Transco Tower. It may be that there was a plan to cause its destruction. But President Bush stopped all flights on that fatal day OR else the same could have happened to us! Houston was spared 9-11. But we also grieved with the rest of the country.
Now here we are in 2017. Houston is now going through tough and strenuous times with Hurricane Harvey. But what is ahead?
Just maybe we are being spared a coming event. This hurricane has been very uncomfortable but for the most part, very few lives have been taken. We grieve with those who have lost loved ones. Our hearts are with those who are have suffered any kind of loss. But mere things can be replaced. Lives cannot. But what is really important is your immortal soul.
Unfortunately, some people don’t come to the LORD unless there is something catastrophic in their lives that causes them to re-think their priorities! God will use this storm Harvey to bring in many, many to His sheepfolds. This is revival! This is the last great revival! The church will show them mercy and love. And it will cause other Americans to show mercy towards us:
