Christ is the Ark!

Written by:

A morning devotional mentioned this verse, and it struck me:

Luke 17:27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

THE CALLED-OUT

“Noah” represents the ekklesia, the called-out assembly, or the Christian church who are born again. Noah and his family were called-out. They were called-out of the flood of destruction. Yet true Christians are the called-out of God, being a “royal priesthood”!

1PET2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

We, as born-again Christians, are called-out into His Kingdom, into His “marvelous light”!

“RESURRECTION OF THE JUST”

Because of the context of this Scripture in the gospel of Luke, speaking about the end times, this is also an allusion to when Christ returns again. (Yet as born-again believers we are already in that Ark spiritually!)

Luke 17:27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

The Church enters the Ark. This, I believe, specifically refers to entering the Ark when Christ returns! He and He alone is the only one who can save us from the wrath to come.

The LORD calls this a resurrection , what is so commonly referred to as “rapture” of the Church.

LUKE 14:14 “‘And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.‘”

This is when we will all be changed, transformed into our immortal bodies.

1COR 15:51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.

OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECY

But the verse in the gospel of Luke continues:

LUKE 17:31 “In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. 32 Remember Lot’s wife.”

Lot’s wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt for it “rained fire and brimstone”! The end time will probably see some nuclear bombs that will bring fire and brimstone so-to-speak, and death and destruction. Better keep your eyes focused on Yeshua the Messiah so that we need not face the wrath on that Day of the LORD.

In the OT, as this prophet foretold, the righteous are taken!

Isaiah 57:1

The righteous perishes*, [*the word in Hebrew H6 could also be translated as “vanishes”!]
And no man takes it to heart;
Merciful men are taken away,
While no one considers
That the righteous is taken away from evil.
2 He shall enter into peace;
They shall rest in their beds,
Each one walking in his uprightness.

The righteous are spared from God’s wrath. We are forgiven by the blood of Christ! We are there like Noah in the Ark. Christ is the Ark! We shall enter into His eternal peace!

OVERCOMERS

Yet, the Messiah spoke to His believers:

JOHN 16:33 “I have said these things to you [believers], that in Me you may have peace. In the world you [believers] will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Praise the LORD!

But do not be like many in the corrupt church of Thyatira, that the Son of God spoke these words to:

REV 2:21 … she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. 22 Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works, 23 and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works.

As Christ has overcome the world system, let us overcome these works of the flesh, and walk in the Spirit of God!

NOTE from“HELPS Word-studies
1577 ekklēsía(from 1537 /ek, “out from and to” and 2564 /kaléō, “to call”) – properly, people called out from the world and to God, the outcome being the Church (the mystical body of Christ) – i.e. the universal (total) body of believers whom God calls out from the world and into His eternal kingdom.
[The English word “church” comes from the Greek word kyriakos, “belonging to the Lord” (kyrios). 1577 /ekklēsía (“church”) is the root of the terms “ecclesiology” and “ecclesiastical.”]”
