This is a summary.   From the Roman Catholic “list”,  Francis is the 266th pope.  It  would be tiresome to read about every pope but my intent is to give you an overview.  

“History” is written by those in charge. The Roman Catholic Church had religiously subjugated many countries, particularly much of Europe, from the time of Constantine. The Roman Catholic Church will tell you that the papacy goes back to St. Peter but they don’t have proof! What they do have is a fabricated Liber Pontificalis. (p.100) Pope Hormisdus (pope from 514-23AD) was maybe the first to have a list of popes. Some say the Liber Pontificalis is an “unofficial instrument of pontifical propaganda.”

“The earliest lists [of popes] come from the Liber Pontificalis (Book of Popes), presumably first composed under Pope Hormisdus (514-23), yet even the Catholic Encyclopedia casts doubt upon its authenticity, and most scholars today agree that it is mixed fact with fiction… ”    (pg 100, A Woman Rides the Beast, Dave Hunt)

Alexander 1 (107-115 AD)
“According to the Liber Pontificalis, it was Alexander I who inserted the narration of the Last Supper … into the liturgy of the Mass. However, the article on Saint Alexander I in the 1907 Catholic Encyclopedia … judges this tradition to be inaccurate, a view shared by both Catholic and non-Catholic experts. It is viewed as a product of the agenda of Liber Pontificalis—this section of the book was probably written in the late 5th century—to show an ancient pattern of the earliest bishops of Rome ruling the church by papal decree.”  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Alexander_I

While the history of these supposed “popes” in line in the Liber Pontificalis may have been somewhat fabricated, these Bishops of Rome in reality may have been obedient to the LORD for the most part. Yet….

The Bishop of Rome Victor, later called Pope Victor I (189–199 AD), did not wholly keep with the Apostles’ traditions. The Fourteenthers continued to observe the fourteenth day of Nisan, Passover, just as the original apostles did. Yet this bishop of Rome excommunicated those who observed Passover! Prior, Polycarp of Smyrna, a Fourteenther, sought to keep the peace when he visited the bishop of Rome Anicetus in order to keep spiritual unity. They chose to keep the fellowship. “In Asia Minor most people kept the fourteenth day … yet they never separated from those [churches] who did otherwise, until Victor, bishop of Rome, influenced by too ardent a zeal, fulminated a sentence of excommunication against the Quartodecimans [Fourteenthers] in Asia.”( – from Scholasticus, Socrates. If Polycarp (69 – 155AD), a disciple of John the Apostle and a martyr, had been alive, Victor would have had him excommunicated! The Fourteenthers were only keeping with those things as prescribed by the Apostles!

AFTER CONSTANTINE THE GREAT

Yet, certainly after Constantine the Great, the “popes” continued to get more out of line with the Apostles teachings!

Let’s look at what these later popes did that were against Scripture.  (This is a partial list.)

Pope Sylvester I (314-335) Much of this “history” is legend. He was supposedly the receiver of this fabricated Donation of Constantine, but it was later proven to be written in the 8th century! SO, the supposed succession of the popes is based on fallacious documents: the Donation of Constantine and the Liber Pontificalis!  Who is the father of lies?  Satan.

The LORD Jesus Christ said:
You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and stayed not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.  (John 8:44 AKJV)

Common folk err because we have been misled. But this was a deliberate forgery!

Pope Leo III (795-816). The Roman Empire ended in 476 AD. Now about three centuries later, Charlemagne was also crowned Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire by Pope Leo III on 25 December 800, partly because of the fraudulent Donation of Constantine. The Frankish Emperor promised to defend the See.

Baptisms in Roman Catholicism were supposed to “save”. But the Word of God states salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ by grace. (Romans 2:23-24) Pope Leo had the Jewish people baptized by force! p 271.  (Of course, one should be baptized but this is an outward sign of an inner commitment to the LORD!)

Gregory VII (1073-1085) strenuously enforced the celibacy of the clergy. “Gregory was the first pope to literally dethrone kings.” p 233

Pope Urban II (1088-1099) ruled that all “heretics”, those that didn’t agree with the Roman Catholic Church, including those who were truly Christians, were to be tortured and put to death. p. 246

Adrian IV (1154 -1159), an Englishman, bestowed the “crown of Ireland to the King of England” p232; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crown_of_Ireland_Act_1542
(This is noted because of the trouble over Ireland and England over the ages, but it was Adrain IV who, through a Papal Bull, gave it to England!)

Pope Lucius III (1097-1185)  in his Ad Abolendam of 1184 condemned the Cathars, Waldensians, and others so-called “heretics”.

Innocent III (1198-1216) During his time of office, he was possibly the most powerful man in Europe.  “He had not lost a single battle. In pursuit of his aims, he shed more blood than any other pontiff” (Peter de Rosa, Vicars of Christ: The Dark Side of the Papacy (Crown Publishers, 1988) p 73

The Fourth Council of the Lateran (1215) under Innocent III declared: “Canon 68 states: Jews and Muslims shall wear a special dress to enable them to be distinguished from Christians so that no Christian shall come to marry them ignorant of who they are. Canon 69 forbade “that Jews be given preferment in public office since this offers them the pretext to vent their wrath against the Christians.” It assumes that Jews blaspheme Christ, and therefore, as it would be “too absurd for a blasphemer of Christ to exercise power over Christians”, Jews should not be appointed to public offices.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Innocent_III (See Yellow Badge.)

Also, Innocent III led the persecution against the Cathars and confiscated lands that belonged to these “heretics”.

He imposed a tax on Christians to pay for the Fourth Crusade. But God says in His Word:

“Every man according as he purposes in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)

Pope Boniface VIII (1294 –1303) The Bull Unam Sanctam in 1302 “declared that both spiritual and temporal power were under the pope’s jurisdiction, and that kings were subordinate to the power of the Roman pontiff.”     https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Boniface_VIII

It “made absolute obedience to the pope a condition of salvation” p235

Pope Martin V (1417-1431) ordered the Polish king to slaughter the Hussites, followers of Czech reformer Jan Hus. p.247

Pope Alexander VI (1492-1503) of the Borgia family, lived as a prince and was “corrupt, worldly, and ambitious”.   He had mistresses and illegitimate children including Cesare Borgia, who was made a cardinal under him but on his dad’s death, he resigned.

Pope Leo X (1513-1521) excommunicated Martin Luther because he would not recant some of the Ninety-Five Theses, including the sale of indulgences.

Pope Paul IV (1555-1559) in his document, required Jews to live in a Roman ghetto and the males to wear pointed yellow hats. Jewish needed to wear yellow kerchiefs.

Pope Sixtus V (1585 -1590) erected of four obelisks, including the unholy, pagan Egyptain one in Saint Peter’s Square. He supposedly exorcised it but can you exorcise a pagan altar that still has the pagan inscriptions on it? These obelisks should have been destroyed!  (Acts 19:19)

Pius IX (1846 to 1878)
The Immaculate Conception dogma (1854) came into being with Pius IX. Many lay people think that this is about Jesus Christ, but it is about Mary’s birth. It says that the Mary was conceived without sin but this errant doctrine has no proof in Scripture! 

The First Vatican Council (1869–70) “decreed papal infallibility.”  Pius IX also was responsible for a ghetto for Jews in Rome.

Pius XI (1922 -1939) signed the Lateran Treaty in 1929 with Mussolini. It made Roman Catholicism Italy’s “sole religion” . p.218

Pius XII (1939 – 1958) signed an agreement with Hitler, the 1933 Concordat. It guaranteed taxes to Rome and stated that Hitler would never be excommunicated! Also under Pius XII, ratlines were run to get Catholic war criminals out of Europe to South America. Ante Pavelic, a Croatian general and Military dictator, who persecuted and killed many Serbs, Jews, and Gypsies, stayed in the Vatican disguised as a priest. (p319)

Paul VI (1963-1978) was pope during the construction and completion (1971) of the Paul VI Audience Hall located in the Vatican City and partially in Rome on land donated by the Knights of Columbus. This building looks like the head of a snake! Pope Francis beatified Pope Paul VI after having put up this serpent-like building! Just google the images of it!

Pope St. John Paul II (1978 until his death in 2005) also consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of [fake] Mary. (Catholic Insight)

21st CENTURY

Pope Benedict XVI (2005 until his resignation in 2013) In 2008, On behalf of the Hindu American community, Radhika Ramana Dasa presented a gift of an “Om” symbol to Benedict! He should have refused it, to be faithful to the LORD.

Pope Francis I is accused of heresy by Catholic scholars in April 2019.

Pope Francis also spoke that “Religious behavior needs continually to be purified from the recurrent temptation to judge others as enemies and adversaries… [The] “perspective of heaven … embraces persons without privilege or discrimination.” But the Word of God says:

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

It does seem that the popes just move the clergy! However, Theodore McCormick was recently defrocked. I am thankful that this man is no longer a cardinal, but whatever took them so long?  They should defrock them all.

So the long line of popes have condoned sexual abuse of children and nuns, anti-Semitism, the killing of true Christians, or pagan idols. Is this anyway to run a Church?  These popes should represent Christ, if they are in line after Saint Peter?  But they are not!

I’m sorry for those true Christians that are in the Roman Catholic Church, who really trust in the name of the LORD by faith through grace.    But you have believed a lie perpetrated by the father of lies.   We pray that you will be set free by the Truth.
