Prophet Job’s Redeemer

Written by:

The Prophet Job (or Iyov in Hebrew) was a rich and Godly man who lived perhaps around the time of Abraham and was possibly a consultant to Pharaoh. Despite his extreme suffering at the hand of Satan, he believed God. Although his wife urged him, he didn’t curse Him! (JOB 1:8-12) Praise God, he didn’t. HalleluYAH!

Do you curse God when tragic events happen? Learn a lesson from Job!

Job is now praising the LORD! He made it through his tough trial and we can make it through, too, knowing that on that other side, we have the victory!

“God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.” (Rom 8:28)

Some scholars believe that Moses wrote the Book of Job, maybe the oldest book* in the Scriptures, to encourage the Israelites while they were slaves in Egypt. There is no consensus on this, but it seems likely.

THE MESSIAH REDEEMER

That belief in YaHWeH to be faithful to His promise of a coming Messiah sustained him through his severe sufferings. It is a promise that the very best – Yeshua – is yet to come! Job professed: “I know that my Redeemer lives.” Yeshua the Messiah is alive! And He’s coming back!

JOB’S Beliefs

Job believed in:

1. the Messiah, the Redeemer (v 25)

2. the Resurrection of the Messiah (v 25)

3. the Second Coming (v 25)

4. his own resurrection (v 26)

5. the wrath of God (v 29)

6. the Judgment (v 29)

JOB 19:25 For I know that my Redeemer lives,
And He shall stand at last on the earth;
26 And after my [mortal] skin is destroyed, this I know,
That in my [immortal] flesh I shall see God,
27 Whom I shall see for myself,
And my eyes shall behold, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!
28 If you should say, ‘How shall we persecute him?’—
Since the root of the matter is found in me,
29 Be afraid of the sword for yourselves;
For wrath brings the punishment of the sword,
That you may know there is a judgment.”

Furthermore, Job had a heart-to-heart relationship with the living God! (v 27) As the Apostle Paul wrote, “I know Whom I have believed.” (2TIM 1:12)

ANCIENT FAITH

These convictions confessed by Job’s words demonstrate that the belief in the Messiah is indeed an ancient faith, the faith that goes back to the Garden of Eden! It is truth, revealed by God in His Holy Words and carried down through the ages till the Prophet Moses put it in writing. The good news, the gospel, is also written in the stars:

GEN 15:5 Then He brought him outside and said [to Abraham], “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”

The first promise of a Redeemer was at the fall of man when the Lord God said to the serpent:

GEN 3:15 And I [YHVH] will put enmity between you [satan] and the woman, And between your [satan’s] seed and her [Eve’s] Seed; He shall bruise your head [Rev 13:3], And you shall bruise His heel. [Crucifixion of Christ]

Since that prophesy in Genesis, Satan has been trying desperately to destroy this promised Seed. His first attempt was to corrupt the seed through fallen angels, by procreating with woman who produced giants or Nephilim. But God sent a flood to protect His Seed and humankind!

Why have the tribes of Israel been so persecuted before Christ arrived? Because the Seed would come through it! Think of the time of Esther.

Why have the Jewish people been so persecuted after Christ arrived? One reason is that Satan wants to prove God to be a liar (not so!) by destroying this chosen race of people to whom many promises were made. But it will not happen!

Those deceivable individuals who are working in this nasty plot of Satan to kill the Jews and Christians are workers of iniquity. However, anyone can repent and turn to the One True God, YaHWeH, the Great I AM, who came as a babe to 2000 years ago in Bethlehem. His name is Yeshua the Messiah. “Yeshua” means “YAH saves”. He saves you from hell most importantly and other lesser things.

ACTS 2:21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

Call on Yeshua the Messiah!

Don’t curse YaHWeH and His people!

Bless them, instead!

NUM 22:12 And God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.”

NOTES:

*”It is a legitimate conclusion … that the Book of Job is probably more ancient than any other composition in the Bible, excepting, perhaps, the Pentateuch, or portions of it. It must almost certainly have been written before the promulgation of the Law. … On the whole, therefore, it seems most reasonable to place the composition towards the close of the patriarchal period, not very long before the Exodus (Spence-Jones, xv).”
