PSALM 32:7 You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah
A NEW SONG
Could these “songs of deliverance” be compared to the“new song” which is the “song of the redeemed”!?!
REV 5:9 And they* sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 And have made us kings and priests to our God;
And we shall reign on the earth. ”
This song is about redemption or deliverance. In the Book of Revelation, the four living beings and the 24 elders in the Throne Room of God sing this “new song” for they are so very grateful that Yeshua suffered the cross for our redemption. A song of deliverance can only be sung by the redeemed! They are blessed with this incredible experience!
Both the four living creatures and the 24 elders sing this “new song”. They sing that the Lamb has “redeemed us”. So these elders and living beings are the redeemed of the earth! They represent believers collectively. All the elders in the throne room were redeemed. And the four living being were redeemed as well.
Are you redeemed?
ACTS 3:19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,
Come to Christ!
PSALM 32
This is a brief study of Psalm 32, called a Maschil in Hebrew meaning “he that instructs”. So this is a psalm of instruction, a contemplation or a reflective poem. A Maschil reflects God’s wisdom to us.
King David, who enjoyed a deep relationship with God, penned this psalm. He knew what he should do to make amends with the LORD after his encounter with Bathsheba. He knew he needed to repent.
FORGIVENESS
This psalm begins with the gracious forgiveness that is extended to us by the LORD. Everyone needs this! The Messiah shed His blood and paid the debt so we have this wonderful forgiveness.
PSA 32:1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit.
When one is not forgiven, one feels it.
3 When I kept silent, my bones grew old
Through my groaning all the day long.
4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;
My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Selah
When one finally agrees to repent in humble humility, the LORD will forgive.
5 I acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I have not hidden.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
The Lord wants us to admit our sins. Forgiveness brings back fellowship with our heavenly Father.
WHO IS GODLY
6a For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You
No one can forgive sin but God. We need to pray TO God. Prayer is “a solemn request for help or expression of thanks addressed to God or an object of worship.”
ISA 8:19 “Should not a people seek their God?”
We need not pray to the saints, nor Mary, nor people, and least of all the antichrist when he rises to power!
IN A TIME
6b In a time when You may be found;
When is it too late to repent? After one dies, it may be too late. After the “resurrection of the just” (now commonly called the “rapture”), it will be too late! For the wrath of God has begun!
1THES 5:9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
As I write much on the Book of Revelation, when I was reading this, I related these verses to tribulation saints and that is my focus in this article. The truth is for now and for tribulation saints as well.
“… I do not think God will remove His church from the earth before the tribulation begins … “ Rabbi Kirt A. Schneider, of the broadcast Discovering the Jewish Jesus, The Book of Revelation Decoded.
Many others agree with this view point, especially Scripture. Matthew 24 gives a good time line of end-time events:
MATT 24:29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened … 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, … they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And [better: Indeed*] He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
The tribulation is finished (v29) for the “resurrection of the just” (v31) has taken place!
NOTE: *This ‘And’ (Matthew 24:31) in the Greek is the word Καί . Καί has many various meanings. There are a whole slew of words that Καί could mean. Possibly here, it means ‘indeed’. The context determines the exact sense.
SURROUNDED BY A FLOOD
6c Surely in a flood of great waters
They shall not come near him.
God uses forces, such as a military invasion, in His judgments. His Word refers to them as “floods”, even though they are not literally a flood.
DAN 9:26 “And after the sixty-two week Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
Floods may symbolically indicate the LORD’s righteous judgment against sin and iniquity. God sent the flood in Noah’s time to destroy the Nephilim, the giants. He sent the flood to preserve the human race!
Yeshua compared the literal flood in Noah’s time to the symbolic flood that will come as the wrath of God.
MATT 24:37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken [and received by Yeshua] and the other left [behind].
Believers will be gone before the wrath of God that will come in like a flood. Therefore, this flood will not “come near” believers!
PSA 29:10 The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.
Floods are always under the Lord’s control! Even the enemy’s floods!
HIDDEN IN CHRIST
7a You are my hiding place;
In an end-time scenario:
ISA 26:20 Go, my people, enter your rooms
and shut your doors behind you.
Hide yourselves a little while
until the wrath has passed.
21 For behold, the LORD is coming out of His dwelling
to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity.
The earth will reveal her bloodshed
and will no longer conceal her slain.
Christians are hidden in Christ!
COL 3:3 you died [old self], and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Even during the tribulation, saints may also be hidden in Petra, a city in the cliffs of Jordan. Or elsewhere.
SURROUNDED BY TRIBULATION
7b You shall preserve me from trouble;
The word “trouble” could also be “tribulation”. This could be seen in the 144,000 that were sealed by God during the tribulation from the judgments of God.
REV 7:2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.”
Believers are preserved, guarded from dangers in the case of God’s judgments. Believers do experience trouble from the antichrist but have complete protection from the judgments of God!
Incidentally, the 144,000 are redeemed and sing the “new song” as well!
REV 14:3 They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth.
Which means what? The redeemed are the 144,000!
SURROUNDED BY SONGS
7c You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah
During that time of dire distress, believers are hidden in Christ and surrounded by the redemption songs. Whether alive or passed on into glory, the LORD surrounds us with songs of deliverance just as He did in the throne room!
SURROUNDED BY GUIDANCE
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
During tribulation times, this is especially important.
ISA 30:21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.
This is a promise from the Father. If we listen. Know His Word for it will be “a light unto [your] path”!
DON’T BE LIKE A MULE
9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.
Horses and mules are stubborn! Believers should not be headstrong or resistant to the guidance and wisdom of the LORD.
SURROUNDED BY MERCY
10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;
But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.
Both natural consequences and the judgments from God are the result for those who choose to lead wicked lives.
PRO 13:21 Evil pursues sinners, But to the righteous, good shall be repaid.
Yeshua taught that one will “be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” (Luke 14:14)
REV 22:12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.
Believers are so utterly blessed! Therefore, trust in the Lord! Fear not! For mercy surrounds the righteous!
PSALM 32:11
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous!
And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
AMEN!
