SEVEN VISIONS
I believe St. John had SEVEN VISIONS. “SEVEN” symbolically means “complete” or “perfect”. “Seven” is a reoccurring theme in Revelation.
Each new vision, except the first one because it is first, begins with “After these things….” This is seen more readily in the KJ or NKJ versions.
Studying the whole book with this outline brings clarity to some chronological questions such as why the Lord returns/appears more than once within the book of Revelation. Or why Babylon falls in three different visions! Or why Har-Magedon is mentioned at least four times!
THE LORD RETURNS/APPEARS
2nd Vision 6:16 and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
4th Vision 14:1 Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads.
4th Vision 14:14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle.
7th Vision 19:11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
Babylon Falls
4th Vision 14:8 And another angel followed, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
5th Vision 16:19 Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.
6th Vision 18:2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!
Har-Magedon
2nd Vision 6:15 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders … hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 16 and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
4th Vision 14:20 And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses’ bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs.
5th Vision 16:16 And they gathered them together to the place which in Hebrew is called Har-Magedon.
7th Vision 19:21 And the rest [of the enemies of God] were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse …
THE SEVEN VISIONS
There does seem to be a chronological order generally within each vision, with the 4th vision having some parenthetical details (Rev 12: 1-6) which add more detail. The 5th, 6th, and 7th visions also add more detail to what will be happening.
INTRODUCTION 1:1-8
1st VISION: Rev 1:10-3:22
JESUS CHRIST gives the letters to the 7 CHURCHES
2nd VISION: Rev 4:1-6:17
This gives an overview of the end-time. Christ appears at the end!
PRAISE in HEAVEN
The LAMB opening the 6 SEALS on the scroll (The 7th in the 4th Vision is in REV 8:1.)
CHRIST APPEARS 6:14-17
3rd VISION: Rev 7:1-7:8
SEALING of the 144,000 of the 12 TRIBES of the children of Israel.
Spiritually, the number 144,000 means “the Spirit-led life” and 1,000 means “Divine Completeness” or the “Glory of God.” Perhaps it means “the Spirit of God” leading to “the glory of God” being manifested in us! The bride of Christ is sealed! Are you Christ’s bride?
4th VISION: Rev 7:9-15:4
7th Seal = 7 ANGELS with 7 TRUMPETS
Christ returns towards the end of this vision.
14:1 “Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.”
YOM KIPPUR
14:14 “Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and seated on the cloud one like a Son of Man, with a golden crown on His head, and a sharp sickle in His hand.” Time for judgment!
5th VISION: Rev 15:5-17:18
7 ANGELS pour out 7 BOWL JUDGMENTS: the WRATH of God
JOEL 3:14 … Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision …
ZECH 14:2a For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
REV 16:16 (NASB) And they gathered them together to the place which in Hebrew is called Har-Magedon.
“Armagedon” or “Har-Magedon” means “A heap of sheaves in a valley for judgment” (See Micah 4:11-12) according to the Hebrew language. (Aremah [H6194]; Gaye [H1516]; Don [H1777; H1778])
The traditional view is that this battle is in the Megiddo Valley, and maybe the troops will pass through there on their way to their final destination, but the final battle is in the Valley of Jehoshaphat, the “valley of decision” known today as the Kidron Valley in Jerusalem. Scripture makes this plain: Zechariah 14:2-3; Joel 3:2, Joel 12-14. “Jehoshaphat” means “Yahweh judges” and here He does just that!
REV 14:20 And the winepress was trampled outside the city …
Good news for Christians! “For God did not appoint us [born-again, Spirit-filled Christians] to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,” 1 THES 5:9
6th VISION: Rev 18:1-18:24
The Fall of Babylon – specific details.
18:2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen,
18:4…“Come out of her, my people” Get out of dry religion and follow the LORD!
7th VISION: Rev 19:1-22:5
This is the conclusion of these visions. To better understand this, one needs to be familiar with the Fall Feasts of the LORD. Christ fulfilled the Spring Feasts at His First Coming. He will fulfill these at His Second Coming: the Feast of Trumpets, Yom Kippur, & the Feast of Tabernacles.
This vision has details about the Marriage, Har-Magedon, the Millennium and the ETERNAL STATE.
HEAVEN REJOICES!
Marriage of the LAMB to His Bride
In order for the Bride to be at the wedding, Christians will be “caught up” to the Lord in the air with the clouds at the Feast of Trumpets. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)
1COR 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
SECOND COMING OF CHRIST
The LORD returns in the end of the 2nd & 4th visions and also here in Revelation 19:11. But this describes the JUDGMENT of God on those who have not yielded to His rule of righteousness.
Har-Magedon – YOM KIPPUR
This is the battle of all battles! The capture of beast and false prophet.
REV 19:19 And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. 20Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet … 21 And the rest [of the enemies of God] were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse …
Millennium – Christ reigns with His saints.
The millennium begins. Satan bound. When he is released some rebel.
Eternity – FEAST OF TABERNACLES
Saints living forever with the LORD!
EPILOGUE 22:6-22:21
Maranatha!
Matthew 24 is more linear than the Book of Revelation. This article will help bring clarity: Matthew 24 & the 7 Seals.

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!”
(Revelation 22:17; 22:20)
“The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!
4th Vision REV 11:15b
***
NOTES on being in the Spirit: (added 12-14-25)
REV 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet,
So John had the first vision of the seven churches. He was in the spirit during this vision.
Chapter 4 begins the second vision:
REV 4:1 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”
2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.
How can St, John be “Immediately in the Spirit”, if he was already in the Spirit? That is another factor that affirms the Seven Visions.
