REV 21:4 “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

We had a death in our church on January 2, 2025. He was a fine Christian man and we prayed for him to be healed but, alas, he passed over into glory. This man was in Christ, and he believed in the Resurrection! There shall be no more death for him who will live forever!

JOHN 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.  26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

True Christians just pass over into the other side, a spiritual side. If we were in Christ on earth, our souls and spirits will be in Christ when our physical bodies wear out. We are just passing through!

That is why it is so vital to believe in Christ TODAY! We don’t know when our physical bodies will wear out – it could be from a tragic accident or old age!

“Behold, now is the day of salvation!” 2COR 6:2

THE FORMER THINGS

We Christians are just passing through yet some of these things in this present earth we would choose to forget! Here are the despicable, former things that shall pass away in the New Heavens and New Earth and we say “good riddance!”:

NO MORE DEATH

The Jewish concept of death is separation. Physical death is the body being separated from their eternal soul.

When Christians die, their physical bodies are separated from their soul and spirit. But, at the resurrection of the just, Christians get new bodies akin to Christ’s when He arose from the dead.

1COR 15:42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.  43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.  44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.  45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.”The last Adam [Christ] became a life-giving spirit.

So there will be no more physical death anymore in the New Heavens!

1COR 15:54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

55 “O Death, where is your sting?
O Hades, where is your victory?”

And there won’t be any spiritual death in the New Heaven [Eternal state] because the saints are in Christ!

(Note: When Adam & Eve sinned, they didn’t physically die that day. But they were separated from a holy God. They experienced spiritual death. That’s why we need to be born again – born from above by the spirit of God!)

NO MORE SORROW; NO MORE CRYING

ISA 65:17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;
And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind…
19b …The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her,
Nor the voice of crying.”

NO MORE PAIN

This world is so full of pain! There will be no more pain in our eternal home – a promise from the Scripture!

I normally have had a high tolerance for pain, but in the last year, I’ve had a lot of aches & pains . I’ve definitely improved. Yet now I’m more likely to pray for everyone who is crippled by pain: children with cancer, wounded vets, the sick.

Job, in the Scriptures, knew pain.

JOB 7:3 So I have been allotted months of futility,
And wearisome nights have been appointed to me.
4 When I lie down, I say, ‘When shall I arise,
And the night be ended?’
For I have had my fill of tossing till dawn.
5 My flesh is caked with worms and dust,
My skin is cracked and breaks out afresh.

Job wanted to die.

Elijah too wanted to die. He “prayed that he might die, and said, ‘It is enough! Now, LORD, take my life …’”

Other saints in Scripture wanted to die, too! I also did in my extreme pain.

Sometimes the children of God are tested! My desire is to pass the test and to be faithful to Him who died in my place! So I prayed that God’s will would be done in my life, and I also knew the promises He had given me that have not yet happened. The LORD still had plans for me!

NO MORE VIOLENCE

On this earth, we deal with violence: assaults, murders, rapes, and wars to name a few. Crazy terrorists going after citizens to mow down with cars!

However, there will be no more violence because violence is caused by these people:

REV 21:8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

SHALOM

Basically, we will have peace! No death, no sorrow, no crying, no pain, no violence! We will forever rest in the LORD!

The Old Testament agrees with the New Testament! These are the promises!

ISA 65:17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;
And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.
18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create;
For behold, I create Jerusalem as a rejoicing,
And her people a joy.
19 I will rejoice in Jerusalem,
And joy in My people;
The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her,
Nor the voice of crying.
