The song, “I Exalt Thee”, has lyrics based on this Scripture:

PSA 97:9 For You, LORD, are most high above all the earth; You are exalted far above all gods.

The True God, above all the other gods, revealed His name to Moses at the burning bush.

EXO 3:14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

To explain how we got “YHWH” (H3068 Yhvh; the Hebrew letters Yod Heh Vav Hey) out of this:

“The first time God says I AM (“I AM WHO I AM”), the Hebrew says, “Ehyeh asher Ehyeh”,  which translates as “I will be what I will be.” When God then tells Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent you” (Exodus 3:14), it is “Yahweh.” Yahweh is the third person version of Ehyeh, which is first person. Yahweh could also be translated as ‘He will be’.” – from Bible Study Tools

ISA 45:6b … That there is none besides Me. I am the LORD [H3068], and there is no other;

HASHEM

The Israelites did not want to accidentally misuse God’s holy name, and they especially did not want the Name to be abused by strangers. They verbally substituted “Adonai” for “YHWH” which they were still reading in the text. (One could not change the Word of God!)

A similar habit still continues in translations, but one can always see in the Hebrew it goes back to “YHWH”. In French Bibles, the word “YHWH” is replaced by “L’Eternal” showing that God is existing self-sufficiently. When you see “LORD” capitalized in standard English Bibles of the Old Testament, it is the name YHWH in Hebrew, the proper name of the God of Israel. We see it in the next verse:

EXO 3:15 Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The LORD [H3068] God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name [H8034 shem] forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’

“HaShem” means “The Name”. God’s name is YHWH but in order to show proper respect for this name, the Jews just say “HaShem”.

NOTE: “Abba” means “daddy”.

NOTE: When I personally refer in writing to the LORD Yeshua, I will use capitals letters but that is something unique to me, and maybe others, because Yeshua is the visible YHWH.

GOD’S NAME IS A VERB!

Most names are nouns as in “Hadassah” meaning “myrtle tree”. Sometimes names are adjectives, as in “David” which means “beloved”*. In Israeli names, they could be sentences, such as “God is high” for Jeremiah. But few are verbs.

“Hebrew linguists believe yhvh is a form of the verb havah, meaning ‘to be or become.’” – Article “HaShem”

One needs a verb to make a sentence. And one needs God to be complete!

YHWH is always on the move. He is not stagnant yet His name is YHWH Shalom, the God of peace.

The Holy Spirit could be translated as “holy wind” as the word is:

H7307. ruach meaning “breath, wind, spirit”

Wind is something one doesn’t see, but the effects may be seen such as a leaf blowing in the breeze.

Yeshua even compared the Spirit of God to wind!

JOHN 3:5 …. “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

And everyone born of the Spirit show results! These will be seen in a change of life, sometimes instant and some over time, as sanctification takes effect. (See Saved, Saved, Saved)

PROCLAIMING DEITY

While on earth, Yeshua proclaimed the name of YHWH saying “I AM”!

JOHN 8:58 “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

The crowd picked up stones to throw at Him. But since it was not the right time to die, Yeshua was suddenly hidden. Yet He passed right through them!

JOHN 8:59 Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

This, in fact, was a miracle! He did this sometimes, a miracle we often overlook.

In trying to stone Yeshua, the Jews were just obeying the Levitical law in Leviticus 24:15-16. But they failed. Because Yeshua is God, our Emmanuel. His name even means “Yahweh saves”.

PHIL 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Yeshua, “Yahweh saves”, is “the name which is above every name”!

Are you saved? Spiritually saved? For if you’re not, you cannot enter the Kingdom of God!

Come to Yeshua as LORD, the Great I AM!

* Note: While Yeshua was being baptized… MATT 3:17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” This would be some form of “david” in the Hebrew because “david” means “beloved”. Is this a reference to King David whose house would be on the throne forever? 2SAM 7:16 And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you.
