JOHN & 1 JOHN

Many Christians can quote John 3:16:

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

Oh, the love of God! However, God is transforming us to be like Him! (See Agape & Agape)  1 John 3:16 is similar, but it speaks of us laying down our lives!

1 John 3:16
By this we know love, that He laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.

We may lay it down through sacrifice and prayer for others.

There are many important doctrines in the New Testament epistles, and one can remember more easily knowing that they are all 3:16!

MATTHEW

Matthew 3:16-17 (NKJV)

16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

These two verses show the relationship between the Father (voice from heaven) and the Son and the Spirit of God!

1ST & 2ND CORINTHIANS

1st and 2nd Corinthians will apprise one of what happens when you believe in Jesus Christ as Savior.

1 Corinthians 3:16
Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?

Glory to God!  We are His temple!

2 Corinthians 3:16
But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.

The veil is removed and one sees clearly and in the spirit!  You are no longer dead in the spirit.  You are alive!

PHILIPPIANS & COLOSSIANS

Philippians 3:16 (NKJV)

16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.

When people begin there Christian life, it’s a whole new world – living in the Spirit.  Let’s be patient with them, but live up to what we’ve learned!  Colossians 3:16 is encouragement for us to be in the Spirit.

Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

1Tim3v16

1st & 2nd TIMOTHY

1st and 2nd Timothy have very excellent doctrine:

1 Timothy 3:16
Without question, this is the great mystery of our faith: Christ was revealed in a human body and vindicated by the Spirit. He was seen by angels and announced to the nations. He was believed in throughout the world and taken to heaven in glory.

If you remember this, it’s the gospel in a nutshell!

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

And add this verse …

17 so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.…

JAMES & REVELATION

Steer clear of these things:  jealousy, selfish ambition, and lukewarmness.

James 3:16
For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.

Revelation 3:16
So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

EPHESIANS AND 2 THESSALONIANS

3:16 in Ephesians and 2 Thessalonians are prayers.

Ephesians 3:16 NIV
I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being

2 Thessalonians 3:16
Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.

So I will leave you with that prayer!
