Yesterday, on the eve of election (11-1-10), we gathered, as I’m sure many saints did, to intercede for America. Everything we prayed was somehow related to a return to righteousness in this land, a land provided by Almighty God so that we may live in liberty, free to worship and free to prosper. We prayed for a return to our foundations in the truths of our wonderful foundational documents of liberty: the Declaration of Independence; the US Constitution; and most importantly, that most liberating and most wonderful book, the Word of God. For truly, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty!” (2 Cor 3:17)

Our foundational American documents were drafted, debated and adopted in the city of Philadelphia. We prayed that our nation be re-established in Philadelphia: not “Philadelphia, PA” but the in the spiritual, exemplary church of Philadelphia. The Philadelphia church, one of the seven churches in the book of Revelation, (Rev 3:7-13), was one of only two churches that did NOT receive a rebuke from the Lord Jesus Christ. (See my entry “Seven Churches Chart”.) Philadelphia means “brotherly love”.

Why no rebuke? Because of their faithfulness to His Word, and I’m sure that includes living up to their name! If one is faithful to His Word, one must act and live upon His Word, and His command is to love Him, first and foremost, and, secondly, to love our neighbors. (Gal 5:14)

Let us therefore pray that our nation be re-established in brotherly love. Let us be a nation of brotherly love with a commitment to improving the lives of others. Let everyone who is able and calls himself Christian, be somehow active in helping others. If the Church, not the institution but the Spirit-led people of God, lead the true Way in this nation, God will bless us for it is “righteousness [that] exalts a nation”. (Pro 14:34)
