A Little Truth

“God is love”

1 John 4:16

I AM = love

“Love” is in this meme. God’s name is similar to love. (Hebrew is read from right to left.)

אהיה = אהבה

A “little truth” mixed in with all those confounding lies of the enemy might lead one astray, YET a “little truth” can lead someone to the TRUTH of Jesus Christ! The Holy Spirit alerts us to the TRUTH.

I was not following the LORD when I was married. But, at a wedding shower, a lady spoke to me to “not let the sun go down on your anger”. I am eternally grateful to her for she spoke to me “a little truth”. I really tried to live by that, not realizing it was Scripture. So, next month, we will be married forty-six years! It hasn’t always been easy: I prayed for my husband for over twenty years to know the LORD. But I always tried to live by that Scripture.

JESUS LOVES YOU!

When I was in deep deception before surrendering my life to the LORD, a neighbor spoke to me, “Jesus loves you!” That, though I did not show it to my friend, shook me to the core! Such a simple sentence but it had a lasting impact!

JESUS CHRIST IS LORD!

While this friend’s church was praying for me, a salesman in a Palais Royal store, told me to say, “Jesus Christ is LORD!” so I went home, and spoke it three times. Nothing seemed to happen but ten days later, and the timing was essential, I had a vision of the LORD. I committed my whole life to Him.

THE TRUTH SETS YOU FREE

Years later, I was out in California and there was a small parade of Hare Krishnas. I spoke, by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, to this American girl in the cult, “You shall know the TRUTH and the TRUTH shall set you free!” This was the truth of Scripture! I’m sure it had an impact on her, though i never saw her again! But it was what the Spirit called me forth to say.

TRAGEDIES

I recently heard a good word from a well-known preacher. I do not listen to him often as I’m not in agreement on all things but he preaches Christ. Many church leaders grow, as we all should, in faith and understanding. So sometimes, if we hear them again some years later, they will be more Scriptural. We should all grow. Unfortunately, some will get into bad doctrine, but the Holy Spirit will lead them out of it, if they’re teachable. Sometimes, it just is the way they learned “Christianity”. Sometimes, church “leaders” are purposely misleading. Anyway, I digress.

This pastor was speaking of a great personal tragedy and how the LORD was being glorified through it. He spoke that, in many instances, God uses tragedies in our lives to show the difference in the faithful Christian population and non-believers. What he said was truth.

This is something that I’ve learned through time. The last epidemic of 2020, when many people were so in a panic, believing Christians remained calm despite the turmoil.

A different time, when I was in the hospital, a nurse complimented my behavior! I thought I was just being cordial and kind but many other patients are rude and unmannerly. She definitely noticed a difference! Nurses need to deal with many screaming and complaining patients, yet it was a relief to come into my room.

I have also received nice thank you notes from someone who worked with me on a problem and I was very patient. The customer service reps really appreciate it! They are constantly dealing with many angry, sometimes vicious people!

However, if I’m not careful and prayerful, I too can be frustrated and show it!

JAM 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

A Christian life well-lived, more than words, is a testimony to the power of God in one’s life. So many of us Christians fall short in this area by not being kind. Mahatma Gandhi rejected Christianity for he was later quoted, in response to the church’s sin of segregation, “I’d be a Christian if it were not for the Christians.’ “

Let us try to be Christ-like in all that we do, even in trying times.

A LITTLE TRUTH

PRO 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.

That’s a colorful proverb! A word spoken at the right time has a lasting impact! A little TRUTH can transform. It is the Holy Spirit that alerts us to the TRUTH.

People need to hear the truth of the gospel. Yet, depending on the circumstances, a simple “Jesus loves you” or “God bless you!” might be all they need to hear at that time. It just might change the day – or the lifetime of someone!
