On New Year’s Day, (1-1-24), I awoke and the LORD in that still small voice told me to read from the Book of Job.  This verse caught my attention:  

YHWH will “Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him. Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low;
[and] Tread down the wicked in their place.” (JOB 40:11,12)

This being the first day of New Year, possibly the LORD will drastically humble the proud in this year of 2024.  We will see. 

Wickedness and pride go hand-in-hand.

YHWH asserts: ISA 13:11 “I will punish the world for its evil, And the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud, And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.”

Who are the proud?  Anyone who thinks they are better than God.  Satan’s sin was pride.

ISA 14:12 “How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
13 For you have said in your heart:
‘I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’
15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,
To the lowest depths of the Pit.

16 “Those who see you will gaze at you,
And consider you, saying:
‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble,
Who shook kingdoms,
17 Who made the world as a wilderness
And destroyed its cities,
Who did not open the house of his prisoners?’

The proud would also include anyone has no regard for God, who thinks himself an atheist. Many Christians believe there are no such thing as a true atheist because of this:

ROM 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, …

PROV 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Romans 1 is the Scripture that relates to sexual perversion:

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

The “PROUD” in the Scriptures

PROV 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.

PROV 21:24 A proud and haughty man—“Scoffer” is his name; He acts with arrogant pride.

ISA 2:12 For the day of the LORD of hosts Shall come upon everything proud and lofty, Upon everything lifted up— And it shall be brought low.

JAMES 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

LUKE 10:18 And He [Yeshua] said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”

JOB 9:13 God will not withdraw His anger, The allies of the proud lie prostrate beneath Him.

That is the dreadful fate of the proud. May we pray that this spirit of pride would be removed, be delivered from the people we know so that they would no longer be “allies of the proud”! 

PROV 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Pray this prayer for deliverance.
