PROPHETS – New and Old

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.

1 Corinthians 14:1

And there is nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9

The path for righteousness has always been the same – faith in the Messiah – whether on this side of the cross or in ancient days.

There were bad shepherds in the Old Testament and we have them now.  There were false prophets then and also now. But we cannot just say that there are NO prophets as some would want you to believe.

Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.

Amos 3:7

Is this true for today?  Or has God changed?

MODERN DAY PROPHETS

‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. (Acts 2:17)

11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;  Ephesians 4

Do you agree that there are pastors?  Do you agree that there are teachers?  Do you agree that there are evangelists?  Then why not apostles and prophets?

We have not yet come to “a perfect man” nor to “the fullness of Christ”!

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets?… 1 Corinthians 12

(This article refers to “prophetesses”, also.  There were prophetesses in both the Old and New Testaments!  Old Testament:  Miriam (Exodus 15:20); Deborah (Judges 4:4); Huldah (2 Kings 22:14); Noadiah (Nehemiah 6:14); (Isaiah 8:3);  Anna (Luke 2:36); (Acts 21:9)

CHRISTIANS CAN ALL PROPHESY …

… but they don’t because of the bad teaching on prophecy!

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy….  But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.  he who prophesies edifies the church… but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater ….”  1Corinthians 14:1-5

29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. 32And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets… desire earnestly to prophesy. 1Corinthians 14: 29-32

THE OFFICE OF A PROPHET

But if one is called to prophesy sometimes, that doesn’t mean he is in the office of a prophet!  There are those who do this regularly and are called to it. They are appointed to this assignment by the LORD Himself!

No Christian is perfect yet and we are going from “glory to glory” as we mature in the faith.  Sometimes you may not like the prophet himself but he may be speaking for the LORD in what he says.

I’m preaching to myself.  I did not like this prophet when I met him, but I found out that many of his prophecies are coming true.  He spoke on an international level.

TELLING FORTH the WUHAN PLAGUE in 1986

People, and even Christians, are running around in fear now with this plague.  We should be fearless in the face of the enemy because “perfect love casts out all fear”.  “Fear not!”

This prophecy was given in 1986 through David Wilkerson.  I consider him an apostle of the LORD, one who operates in many giftings – prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher (Ephesians 4:11) – at various times.

“I see a plague coming on the world, and the bars, churches and government will shut down. The plague will hit New York City and shake it like it has never been shaken. The plague is going to force prayerless believers into radical prayer and into their Bibles, and repentance will be the cry from the man of God in the pulpit. And out of it will come a third Great Awakening that will sweep America and the world.”

FOR EDIFICATION OF THE CHURCH

We see that a Great Awakening is and is now here!  But we worry about the elections in the United States and all the corruption.  “Fear not!”

I believe the remnant church has been obedient to the LORD in praying.  There were two awesome events in Washington, DC: : “The Return” and the “Prayer March 2020” at the time of Yom Kippur. This was an awesome day of repentance & prayer.

The Great Awakening has begun but you won’t hear about it in the mainstream media!  Enemies try to shut the evangelists down!   Enemies try to take church away from us, not allowing churches in some states!  But the evangelist are going to the beaches and in parks!

“The gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”  Matthew 16:18

Is this not appropriate for 2020? I believe it was Hank Kunneman who first pointed this out!

“…. Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.”  2 Chronicles 20:20

Did not the widow prosper when she believed and obeyed Elisha the Prophet?  (2 Kings 4:1-7)

This is a Word of Encouragement From Hank Kunneman 11/4/2020.

Prophet Kim Clement’s had prophecies concerning President Trump (2007, 2014) before the prophet died.  The prophet said in 2007, that the president will have “hot blood, but he will bring the walls of protection on this country in a greater way and the economy of this country shall change rapidly, says the LORD of Hosts.”  That has happened!  The prophet also said he would be in for “two terms”.  I believe that is currently happening and we will not know the outcome of the Presidential race until January, 2021.  Christians are waiting for a miracle! And the LORD has a MASTERPLAN!

This passage quoted here is towards the end of video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9w8Mr0kylwc

Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.  Amos 3:7

OBEDIENCE TO THE LORD

Some prophecies seem to not come true because there are conditions on them.  The prophecy includes the word, “IF”!

Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was cured of leprosy when he finally obeyed Elisha at the promptings of his servants.  (2 Kings 5:1-19)  If Naaman hadn’t dipped in the Jordan River, his prophecy would never have happened!

People often don’t do what the LORD says to do.  A prophet can see the potential in a person, on a personal basis, and speaks to that potential coming forth.  However, if one does not obey the LORD, the prophecy may not happen.

A DIFFERENCE

It says in the New Testament,

Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.  1 Corinthians 14:29

Judging should be going on!  This doesn’t happen within many of our churches!

It was much stricter in the Old Testament.

But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’ Deuteronomy 18:20  (see Jeremiah 28)

The Old Testament prophecies and prophecies in the time of the Apostlic Age became the Word of God!   No one is going to add to the Scripture nowadays … unless they want real trouble from the LORD!  Perhaps this was why it was so strict back then, but we are in an age of grace!

However, when a modern prophet comes under a strong anointing from the LORD with an important message from the LORD regarding a prophecy that has worldwide implications, let the prophets judge and judge according to Scripture!

WE ARE ALL LEARNING

God forgives us when we are wrong.  Thank God! Issues about the Day of the LORD have various different opinions amongst Godly ministers.  One can’t say they are all “false prophets” just because they disagree with you! One is NOT a “false prophet” because he was wrong about an issue!  I’ve been wrong, too.  That doesn’t make me a “false prophet”.   Do you not think that we learn as we go and grow?

We are all learning. None of us are perfect, but Christ alone.  We will all know someday in heaven where we’ve missed it!  But these errors are NOT usually given in a “Thus saith the LORD” attitude! They are opinions.

THE REAL FALSE PROPHETS

However, there are many “false prophets” in the churches today.  I’ve personally met lying “pastors” who are leading their sheep astray, many of them ordained ministers!

The real “false prophets” are those that are claiming that Jesus Christ is not YHWH, Emmanuel or “God with us”; that any ol’ religion will do; that there’s more than one way.   There is no other way to have eternal life than through Jesus Christ.

These “false prophets” have a spirit of antichrist!

However, “… the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”  Revelation 19:10
