“For you [those who have received Christ] are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” (Galatians 3:26 -29)
I’ve attended many churches since coming to the LORD and none thought anything of race, or I would not have joined. Maybe some churches don’t have this down! However, the truth is that someday in heaven, we will sing a new song!
“And they sang a new song, saying: “You [Jesus Christ] are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood, Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.” (Revelations 5:9)
In Messianic congregations in Israel, Jew and Arab join happily together! Many Christian conferences unite “in one accord”! We are focussed on Our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. It doesn’t matter if you are red, white, blue or black. Our desire is to promote the Kingdom of God!
The EVIL of SLAVERY
https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/blacklivesmatter
Slavery is an evil system. Historically, conquering armies made slaves of some captors, no matter the color of their skin. The Jews were slaves in Egypt and even during WW2 preceding the Holocaust. The Irish were slaves. Gypsies were slaves. White Europeans were slaves during the Islamic Barbary pirates days. Islam still allows black slavery*. And the sex trade is rampant.
But “… the truth will make you free.” (John 8:32) Jesus Christ is always about freedom!
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17
This freedom in Christ is a hope of Christianity.
“For you, brothers, were called to freedom; but do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh. Rather, serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13
“SIN IS LAWLESSNESS”
Lawlessness is “flesh” and that is of the spirit of antichrist. (2 Thessalonians 2) The lawless masses are looting, rioting and tearing down historical statues, even one of Abe Lincoln, under whose presidency, the slaves were freed!
Jesus Christ prophesied:
“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” Matthew 24:12
“The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 13:41-2
“Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.” 1 John 3:4
CHRISTIANS WHO FOUGHT FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS
The opposite of lawlessness is righteousness! Righteousness is right-standing with God.
“He who follows righteousness and mercy
Finds life, righteousness, and honor.” Proverbs 21:21
William Wilberforce, when he became an Evangelical Christianity in 1784, became very involved in eradicating slavery. The House of Commons passed the Slave Trade Act of 1807 and finally the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833. He was a champion in abolishing slavery and labored extensively for it until his death. (See the movie “Amazing Grace”.)
In 1773, John Wesley, a famed preacher, penned a brochure on ‘Thoughts Upon Slavery’. He urged repentance for owning slaves. (John Wesley would be shocked at some of the liberal morals that go on in the Methodist Church today! Many have strayed from the truth allowing homosexual preachers!)
John Quincy Adams, Founding Father
“Roll, years of promise, rapidly roll round, till not a slave shall on this earth be found.”
See how John Q. Adams won the Supreme Court case for the Africans in United States v. The Amistad.
Abraham Lincoln’s quotes:
“I am naturally anti-slavery. If slavery is not wrong, nothing is wrong.”
“Slavery is founded in the selfishness of man’s nature…”
Martin Luther King Jr. said “I have a dream.” I believe it was really a dream that the LORD God Almighty gave to him. He spoke:
“that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.’ … I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.”
But King also said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
These lawless mobs today are not showing love, but instigating hate!
THE LIGHT of the WORLD
Jesus Christ is the LIGHT!
“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12
John Chapter 3 proclaims: 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
And we, as true Christians should walk in the LIGHT!
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light” Ephesians 5:8
This freedom in Christ is a hope of Christianity.
