Why I Don’t Practice Yoga Anymore

1tim4v1

I had done yoga. I had been in an Eastern cult. All that became stubble to me, or rubbish.

I found out the truth, the Truth. The Truth is the LORD Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ wrapped His arms of spiritual love around me and He “has made me His own.” (Philippians 3:8)

7 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, 11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. (Philippians 3:7-11)

I was overcome by His miraculous grace. Nor did I want to do anything to displease my LORD, my Savior, the One who died for me, although it has already been forgiven!

So I got rid of a lot of rubbish when I came to Christ, mainly statues and books.

“And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted the value of them and found it came to fifty thousand pieces of silver.” Acts 19:19

I did have a book on yoga. Yoga is Hinduism. Take it from the yoga instructor:
“Is Yoga a religion that denies Jesus Christ? Yes. … As Hindus who live the Yogic lifestyle, we appreciate when others understand that all of Yoga is all about the Hindu religion….” Danda, Dharma Yoga Ashram (Classical Yoga Hindu Academy) [Bold, mine]

You may read on this Lighthouse site about Hinduism and yoga.

The So-Called “Cause of the Universe”

“‘Om’ is the all encompassing cosmic vibration of the universe.” THAT IS HERESY!

“Although the OM symbol may be shrouded in mysticism, religious context …. it’s context here is “the sacred sound, the Yes!, the Udgitha (song of the universe), the infinite, the all encompassing, the whole world, the truth, the ultimate reality, the finest essence, the cause of the Universe, the essence of life, the vehicle of deepest knowledge, and Self-knowledge.” (Quote from a yoga site)

If that isn’t a name for a god, what is? They call it the “cause of the Universe.” They call it “truth”. But the Truth is the LORD Jesus Christ!

There is a movement to put yoga into classrooms in public schools. It does seem to calm. But this movement has a logo, the symbol for “om”.

One gets them in “innocently”, just for health reasons and calming purposes, and then, when the time is right, one lets them know they are in too deep! The devil is crafty and will come to you with smooth moves.

But there is nothing too deep from which the Savior can save you!

Question: Would you give up yoga to please Christ?

“for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”    1 Timothy 4:8

FROM YOGA WEBSITES

I went to some of these “Yoga” sites.  Some had the “om” sign as plain as day.  (If you want to see this sign, you just need  to put “om” in google.)

One had “horoscopes” on it.  Christians should not read “horoscopes” but get their insight from the Holy Spirit!

Another had meditations that included:

“The only real “truth”” in the world are the connections we create.”   That is contrary to the Word of God.   As I said before, the  “Truth” is the LORD  Jesus Christ and His Word.
The meditation:  “So many times we look outside of ourselves to fulfill needs. But you are actually perfect just as you are. There is nothing to fix or change.”    But we DO need to “fix or change” our sin problem through Christ!   And until we get our souls to line up with the Holy Spirit, we still need to CHANGE!

And one of the “yoga” sites  had a class for chanting.   “Chanting (Kirtan) is a part of the path of Devotional Yoga.”

The LORD Jesus Christ said,

“And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.”  Matthew 6:7

Do you think that they will allow you to say, “HalleluJAH”?   The trick is to get you to call on the name of a false god so you will be under his control.   (You can read my experience with chanting prior to coming to the LORD under My Testimony. )

Basically, yoga leads to error!

“We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.”  1 John 4:6

Even if you, as a Christian, will not be swayed from your faith in Jesus Christ, do you want to participate in a practice that will lead many people into error?   Do you want your money to go to a guru that pushes “OM” as the truth?

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.‘”  John 14:6
