In just 4 chapters of the book of Philippians, there are 16 references to “joy” or variations of “rejoice.” (NKJ) St. Paul was having a marvelous day! Yet he was imprisoned. Happy in a jailhouse? Paul was happy and he was rejoicing!
Paul rejoiced in knowing the work of God continues. This was his first European church to be established by him. He calls them, “my joy and crown.” (v 4:1) He expresses it to his second church in Thessalonica, “For you are our glory and joy.” (1 Thes 2:20) How happy we are to be used of the LORD in reaping a new harvest, the future citizens of heaven!
“20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables Him even to subject all things to Himself.”
There’s joy in leading someone to the LORD!
